Janet Inda

As a native Nevadan I was born and raised on ranches in the northern half of Nevada and I taught myself how to sew around the age of 8 or 9 years old. Since some of the ranches had no electricity I got to "play" on Mom’s pedal machine. I soon learned that with a little effort I could make things for myself.  As my interest grew Mom soon bought me some real material, besides the flour sacks that were in abundance on the ranch. By the time I was in high school we had moved into Reno and I could find books to help me make nice clothes for myself and a few things for the family. I became a school teacher and enjoyed the kids until I had our daughter and wanted to stay home with her.  I had several preschools for many years while I kept up with sewing and took a few classes to help master some tricks. After I sold the preschools I sewed for people out of my home. My favorite sewing projects were for weddings with my own family’s "wants and needs" squeezed in between. I have always loved to teach and have taught a lot of young girls over the years to sew and am delighted to have the opportunity to teach at Sew-n-Such. I have gotten hooked on quilting recently, and love to sew on my Babylock serger.  My first love is and will always be sewing.  I try to sew at least 15 minutes every day.
