Sew n Such

And we can say “I  know Kathie Dziurda, I have taken her classes!”

Kathie Dziurda went to Martha Pullen's Sewing Market in Arlington, Texas June 18-21st. It was 4 days of classes and vendor mall. The event was fun and informative!! They also do a Sewing Contest that benefits Cook Children's Hospital. Kathie entered 2 garments, one in the Hand Made Machine Embroidery category and one in Textile Creations. There were 150 entrants in all the categories, including pillows and quilts, embellished shirts, wedding dresses, jackets, children's heirloom garments and christening dresses. The garment Kathie entered in the machine embroidery category, a blue wool jacket with a shades of blue embroidery on the front and back yokes, took first place in the category and Best in Show.
Kathie said, "I had no expectation of winning, the other entries were wonderful. When I saw my name on that list I let out a shriek that could be heard in the next county. Then my daughter, Kristi, saw my name at the bottom for Best in Show and I almost fainted! We didn't even have a camera with us, but luckily Kristi's cell phone takes pictures. The other ladies standing around were so wonderful, giving out hugs and congratulations. I got to have my picture taken with Martha Pullen. Later that day the jacket was in the Eileen Roche fashion show. What a high!!!"
