Thanksgiving Table Top Inspiration

Thanksgiving in Vegas!

Ever since last year when one of my girls sent back pictures of her family’s Thanksgiving table, I’ve been thinking I need to step up my table top decor game (as the kids say these days ;)). But how does a quilter put her own spin on classic autumn gourds, leaves and turkeys?

There are always table runners and wall hangings, but I wanted a little more “oomph”, a little more not so run-of-the-mill. I also wanted quick and easy because, well, I’m a busy chick!

So off to the web for some ideas. Luckily, I stumbled across Craftbuds.com! Not only were there TONS of great ideas, here was the perfect quick and easy pumpkin centerpiece (free pattern and directions here). This is so easy that I can even have kids (or grandkids) help out!

Next step? Go shopping in my own quilt store, of course. I envisioned a cozy flannel or some colors inspired by the changing autumn leaves. What do you think? Would you add some leaves and foliage from outside? Maybe some pine cones… something to match Grandma’s antique china…

Autumn Fabrics!

I put together a little collection of autumn inspired flannels and quilting cottons from the shop here but, please! Let your imagination run wild. There’s no reason you couldn’t do hot pink with sequins.
